Task

Task 1
After your artist is assigned to you by your teacher, you will first
research the style of art associated with the artist, Impressionism or
Post-Impressionism, and secondly, acquire all the information you can about
your artist so you can write an in-depth review(critique) that represents your
artist in a positive manner. Your critique will not only discuss what the
style is about but also how that style is reflective in one selected painting
of your artist. Discuss the painting/artist success regarding how the artist
used the Elements and Principles of Art as its structural framework. Your
teacher will provide the Art Elements and Principles of Design definitions
for you. Your completed critique must be a typed 2 - 3 page double-spaced
article. Use the template provided as your format in writing your critique
as found in the Evaluations/Docs section.

Task 2
You will create an original work of art to eventually be exhibited with
all students in a school-wide exhibit. Your original work of art must reflect
the style and manner of your artist without making a copy of any existing work
of your artist. Your original painting will be on paper or canvas with a
minimum size of 16 x 20, or it can be larger.

Task 3
Upon compeltion of your original art work you will write an "Artist's
Statement", template found in Evaluations/Docs section, that discusses the
following points:
          1. Who is your artist and what makes the artist important? (Provide
some important facts and data about your artist.)
          2. Why did you chose the subject you painted?
          3. Is your painting Impressionism or Post-Impressionism, and why?
          4. What challenging considerations did you have in doing this
painting to be reflective of your artist, and do you think you
              over came them?
          5. Do you think your finished work of art captures the style and
manner of your artist so that anyone looking at it would say it
definitely is a "___________"(Your Artist's Name) painting? Why
              or why not?
          6. Finally, discuss how the Elements and Principles of Art were
used in your work of art to make it as successful as your
              famous artist.
