The Cherokee Nation

Activities:

This section will introduce you to the Cherokee Nation which is the largest of
the five civilized tribes of the southeast. Choose one of the following
activities. * When you have completed this journey, continue on to "The Trail
of Tears".


(1) Cherokee lifestyle is different from your own.  Research Cherokee
families, homes, food, and customs. Make a powerpoint presentation (8-10
slides)  displaying the information found. Include photos, Cherokee words, and music)
*Utilize the links provided.

(2) The Cherokee nation is the largest native american group in the Southeast.
Create a ?mini timeline detailing the main events in Cherokee history. 
Include at least 10 entries on your time line. Use the timeline maker link below.

(3)  Research Sequoyah and his syllabary.  Use the computer to create an
advertising brochure to convince the Cherokee people of the advantages of
using this form of written communication.  Why will it make their lives
better?  What is its contribution to society?  Should your campaign be written
in English or written in the symbols of the syllabary?  Include information
about Sequoyah in your brochure.

(4) Create a menu (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) in a typical day of the Cherokee.  Use the links 
provided below or research using other sites.  Make a menu to turn in using photos, and use the link 
to find the Cherokee name with the proper spelling/symbol to add to your colorful menu.
