Mary Shelley: Frankenstein

Task

-Imagine that you are Victor Frankenstein. You have just created a hideous 
monster who is now roaming the Earth. When the monster approaches you and 
asks for a female companion you reluctantly decide to do it. You must create 
a drawing of your monster along with a persuasive essay on whether or not 
you feel a female monster would have been moral.


-Imagine that you are Captain Walton who first sees Victor Frankenstein and 
listens to his story. Reflect on the time period that you are currently in - 
1818 London - what advances medical, social, etc have occured that enable 
Frankenstein to create this monster? What aspects of Frankenstein's story 
relate to 19th Europe? What is the connection between History and 
Literature?

-Imagine that you are Mary Shelley...What events in your life have led you 
to write this Gothic masterpiece? Do you think your novel should be regarded 
as a piece of literature from the Romantic Movement? If not, which Literary 
Movement should it be a part of? List aspects of your novel backing your 
claim.
