Congratulations! You have demonstrated your knowledge of survival skills. Together with your team,
you worked hard to acquire this knowledge through research. You now have an awareness of the
necessary tools to survive in the wilderness. During your research you learned about facts and
techniques needed to meet the basic needs for sustaining life : food/water, shelter, fire, rescue/
signaling and most importantly attitude.
This project will help you relate to the main character in your novel, Julie of the Wolves. You will
have a better understanding of some of the crises Miyax faces while living in the Alaskan Wilderness.
You will see her work through her problems and watch her daily struggle to apply many of the skills
you learned about in order to survive her experience.
And.......
If you ever find yourself lost in the wilderness and forced to survive, you too will be prepared!
