From the information presented in this web quest, you and a partner must
choose one of the following assignments:
1. Design a children's book to introduce younger students to Mark
Twain and his colorful characters. Your book must be colorful with
original illustrations, and it must include information about both
Twain and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.
You must present your project to the class
2. Create a newspaper for a festival in Hannibal, honoring Mark Twain
and celebrating Tom Sawyer. Include at least 5 articles: a bio of
Twain; a travelogue of Hannibal; a brief synopsis of Tom Sawyer; an advice
column from Aunt Polly and obituaries of the characters who died in the novel.
You must present your project to the class
3. Write a letter to the Board of Education, defending the reading of
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer in the junior high school. Your letter
should be a minimum of five paragraphs long. It should include an
intro, and then three reasons for reading Tom Sawyer. Support each reason
with at least two piece of evidence, proving that exposing students to Tom
Sawyer and Mark Twain is an important part of every child's education.
