Process

STEP1. The first thing you will need to do in your group is decide which
role each person is going to take. The roles are: Young Person, Concerned
Parent, Tobacco Company Executive, Medical Professional

STEP2. Once this is decided, go to the assigned computer lab and read the:

•	Class work Rubric
•	Introduction page
•	Task page
•	Process page
•	Evaluation page
•	Conclusion page

If you have any questions, please ask your teacher.

STEP 3. Now read through your individual role page to get further
instructions and web pages for your role. Be sure to first explore each of
the web pages provided for your role.

Remember to copy any information that you might want to use and copy the web
address. You must cite all of your work, including pics and other media
files.

Use your text book too. You probably can’t even imagine what might be useful
to you in there! Then, when you have the time, research more. Explore other
web sites, magazine articles, library books, interviews. Use your
imagination.

STEP 4. You will need to keep track of all the information you gather for
your role and all of that will be turned in at the end. When you’re done
with gathering data, analyze it and think of what YOU would like your group
to do for a final task. Save the gathered information your Middle School
Student Folder, save it on a USB, send it to yourself as an email attachment
or, if you are ready, print it out (Print only in color if it is really
necessary).

STEP5. Once everyone has finished compiling their information, you will
gather back together as a group and discuss what exactly your final task
will look like.

STEP6. Let your teacher know what type of presentation you are going to
make, and collect the proper rubric.

STEP7. You will then need to develop the final presentation, as a group, to
give to the class.

STEP 8. For next class (Class #2), please remember to have your data
accessible for class. Bring any other visuals or other creative ideas that
you may have created for your presentation with you as well. You will have
that class to pull everything together as a group.

STEP. 9 On presentation day (whenever your teacher sets the date) each group
will present for a maximum time of ten minutes. BE PREPARED to go first!

STEP 10. Have fun!
