Process

You and your partners will create a Playbill for Shakespeare’s Romeo and
Juliet. The step process that follows is a suggested way to complete the
project. See the example Playbill under "Resources" to get a better
understanding of the placement of information. You may want to print out
this page for easier reference.

Step 1. Review the rubrics found under EVALUATION with your partners to
understand what is required for an outstanding grade on your final
         project.

Step 2. Divide the roles between you: Shakespearean Expert, Elizabethan
Culture Expert, The Globe Theater and Acting Companies Expert.

Step 3. Go to the Home Page and click on your role, read the expectations
and begin research using the recommended sites at the bottom of
         that page.

Step 4. Take notes on note cards while conducting your research. Write
down information that you are pretty sure you will use in writing
your article for the Playbill. Also be sure to write down
bibliographic information for the web sites on separate note cards.

Step 5. Save a picture or two to your Y-drive folder that you think
         supports or enhances your article.

Step 6. Write your article in Microsoft Office Word or use the templates
provided under MODEL PLAYBILL AND TEMPLATES. Make sure the page is
formated to "landscape" and two columns are created, single space,
and use 10 or 12 point font. Save it to your Y-drive. Insert the
         picture(s).

Step 7. Working with your partners, create the Cover, Inside front cover,
and first two pages together as a Word Document. Set up the page
layout as "landscape" with two columns or use the templates provided.
Suggestion: If you choose not to use the templates, create
Text Boxes in the columns BEFORE you add text so that the
final product will be easier to format.

Step 8. Cover – should include a picture, the playwright’s name, and
            the title of the play

Step 9. Inside front cover – should provide the title again, the
director,a quote from the play (see Resources for a good web site
for this), and an advertisement or two on products from the
           Elizabethan era

Step 10. First Inside page – should list the characters and your
choice of actors for who will play the parts. Be creative here!
The bottom half of the page should list the 5-10 House Rules
based on researched rules of Elizabethan theaters.

Step 11. Second Inside page – a brief synopsis of each act with
            settings(see Web Site under Resources)

Step 12. Third Inside Page: Copy and paste the Shakespearean
article and picture onto this page.

Step 13. Fourth Inside Page: Copy and paste the Globe Theater
article and picture(s) onto this page.

Step 14. Inside Back Cover: Copy and paste the Elizabethan article
            and picture(s) onto this page.

Step 15. Back Cover: Room at the top of this page can be a
continuation of the Elizabethan article. The rest of this page is
the Works Cited page. Using MLA format, list all sources used
            (a minimum of 4).
