This web quest will help you explore the instruments of the orchestra. There
are four families of instruments in the orchestra. You will discover there
are distinct family resemblances in each group of instruments; however, some
families are more diverse than others. See what you can discover about these
four families in the orchestra. At the end of this web quest you will be
asked to make a choice of what instrument you’d like to play. Think about
how those choices may affect others in your family.
Questions to explore in your search:
• What similarities do you see within each family?
• Are there generalizations your can make about the instrument families?
• List a favorite instrument from each family—one that you might want
to play. Think about why you’d like to play that instrument. Write
down the name of the instrument you like play from each family. You may want
to explore these later.
