Read the following steps before you raise your hand and ask:
What are we supposed to do?
#1: When you are in your groups, the first thing you need to do is pick who
will be who. Remember, two will be the laborers and two will be the
employers. One of you will have to be the secretary and take down notes
from the negotiations that you will have (step #3).
#2: Once you have figured out the roles, you will need to go to your
individual role page to get further instructions and web pages for your
particular role. Remember to write down anything important for your
argument.
#3: The two laborers will meet separately from the two employers to create a
poster for your side. Thus, the laborers will create a pro-union poster
and the employers will create an anti-union poster. Be prepared to
explain the poster, your position, and reason for the poster.
#4: When everyone has finished doing their research, you will come together
once again as a group and have a meeting to try and settle the dispute.
Remember that one of you will be keeping track of what was said during
the negotiations and jot down what happened including the results of the
meeting.
#5: When a compromise has been met, as a group you must create a contract that
clearly explains what has been agreed upon and what is expected of both
parties.
#6: You will then present your project to the class including a brief
description of your experiences as a laborer or employer.
