Historian #3: A Conflict Becomes A War (~1964)

Eventually American military involvement in Vietnam entered a new stage of
intensity, manpower, and resources. Beginning in the Johnson administration
a larger number of U.S. resources, and eventually troops, descended upon
Vietnam. The UN would like to gain a better understanding of the different
events and the different types of resources that resulted in the conflict in
Vietnam, becoming the Vietnam WAR. Specifically, the UN would like you to
address the following areas of inertest in your presentation:

1.) What were three types of weapons/resources that U.S. and communist
forces had at their disposal?

2.) How did the types of weapons used in the Vietnam War impact the fighting
and causality rates?

3.) What was the Tet Offensive?

4.) What was the military and social impact of the Tet Offensive? Which
side, if any could claim it won?

5.) What was operation Rolling Thunder?

6.) What are some statistics for the Vietnam War? How many casualties were
there? At its peak, what was the troop strength in Vietnam?
