Introduction

World War I is called the Great War. World War II is called the Good
War. The reason for being called the Good War was that for the Americans and
the rest of the world it seemed as if we were fighting against a greater
power than anyone throughout history had ever seen. There were four main
countries in World War II: Germany, Japan, the Soviet Union, & the United
States. Throughout most of the war, there was the dominance of Germany
seemingly taking over most of Europe until they made a fatal mistake by going
into the Soviet Union in the dead of winter. As it seems Japan’s fatal
mistake in the war might have been its first action; the bombing of Pearl
Harbor. Before this the United States was content with staying on the
sidelines of the war as it did for most of WWI, but as the Japanese soon
found out they were dealing with something that would soon destroy the
country. The idea of this webquest is to find out how and why these four
countries decided to go to war with or against each other. You as the
student will now be going on a quest throughout the internet to find out the
reasons why these events took place and how they ended up creating the world
we now live in.
