Introduction

The year is 1919 and the Senate of the United States is about to vote on
whether to pass the 19th amendment or to veto it. The 19th amendment would
give voting rights to women. It is an important day because it is your
chance to make a difference in the nation. As a citizen of the United States
it is your duty to stand up for what you believe is right; whether it is for
equal rights or against it. Today is your lucky day, the Senate wants to
hear from both sides of the issue before they vote on whether to send the
matter to the states to be ratified or kill the measure before it leaves the
floor of the Senate.
