1. I will break the class up into five groups.
2. Each group will choose a role at random.
3. After each group has chosen a role, they need to choose someone to
be the leader of the group.
4. The leader will be in charge of making sure everyone is on task and
will be in charge of compiling the notes that each person in the group has
gathered to be turned in at the end of the activity.
5. I will provide some handouts pertaining to each role and the rest of
the information will be on the website for everyone to have access to.*
6. Some of the groups will need to work together to coordinate their
arguments with one another since they will be arguing for the same side.
7. Each group will have a week’s time to research and develop their
arguments.
8. On the last day of this activity we will be holding a mock Senate
hearing for the Senate members to hear and analyze the arguments of each
person.
*It may be beneficial to look at your opponents websites to try and figure
out what angle they are going to be arguing so you can better prepare to
counter-argue.
