The grading for this will certainly be different than on other assignments
because everyone's creativity and ideas are different. But if you make an
honest effort, your grade will reflect it.
The total project is worth 250 points. And if anyone(s) are able to attain
that full amount of points, pizza will be on me!
225-250=A, 200-224=B 175-199=C, 150-174=D, anything below that, don't even
bother asking what happened...just know you did something not as good as you
could have!
By simply going to your group and working out an answer as to why your country
went to war will give you 50 points. But points can be taken away liberally
for not taking this seriously, talking about something else aside from this
assignment, or other reasons I feel are reason to have points taken away from
someone.
The research pages are predetermined on the internet, but if you can find
valid (and by valid i mean citeable) then please feel free to bring it into
your group. But if it comes from some guys blog in Wisconsin, I will not be
happy! So use your best academic judgment on this. The maximum possible points
for the research will be 75 points. This is the bulk of the work so I expect
to see some real effort here. If you get next to no points or a few, don't
expect a grade higher than a C. And if you're ok with a C, we have to have a
serious talk...
The answers you come up with, which I expect to be typed and submitted to me
BEFORE we begin our group discussion, will be worth the maximum of 50 points.
So for those of you keeping score at home, that brings the point total so far
to 175 points. Now the last step will tell you how to attain those last points
everyone will want! But trust me, it's not easy.
Our group discussion and reflection paper will be worth a total of 75 points.
The group discussion will be a collaboration of your groups answers, what was
researched, and what decisions were made. I can easily say there is no such
thing as a wrong answer, but I really feel that in this case there can be. If
you didn't do the work and just threw something together, chances are it will
be wrong. But if you can fool me and your peers, more power to you! The
reflection paper will be just that. You will write about what you thought of
he assignment, how you feel about the war, if it could have been prevented,
and how the world would be if either your nation wasn't involved in the war,
or if the war never happened at all.
