Introduction

November 11, 1918. Peace! After more than four years of war the great
nations of the world have assembled at Versailles, France to sign a treaty
formally ending World War One. Four dynasties are laid waste by the war.
More than ten million are dead. The diplomatic system of the last 120 years
has come to an end. Communism looms in the East after the Russian
Revolution. Colonies are up for grabs. Before the cities can be rebuilt,
the nations must sort out who is to blame and how the guilty parties will
pay for the destruction caused by war.

Each nation sends its representatives with different goals, each
representing the unique viewpoint of the participants in the war. The
victors, France, Great Britain, the United States, Italy, and a host of
other Allied nations are dictating the terms. Germany and her supporters
can offer little resistance.

Will the Allies dismantle Germany? Will Germany refuse to sign the peace
terms? Will Wilson’s vision of a self-policing global society take shape?

Hi Rigo. Good luck with your extra credit assignment.
