Task

You will research your area of expertise and determine which resources or
minerals you need to carry out your task and note your day's experience in a
7 page journal.

SOLO: If you are flying solo on this project, you will be either the Fire
Teller or Food Forager.

GROUP: If your are working in a group, each of you possess a different
talent and must rely on each other to obtain your resources.

In either case, your goal is to RESEARCH what NATURAL resources you need to
carry out your job.

FIRE TELLERS - rubbing two sticks won't do.
FOOD FORAGERS that fish, making a net from vines won't work. When you make
a boat, what kind of wood do you need?
FOOD FORAGERS that FARM: what kind of tools do you need to make? A sharp
rock to dig with does not reflect adequate research.
CAVE ARTISTS: animal blood, by itself, will fade away. What mineral did the
ancient's paint with?

All of the jobs require special tools with unique minerals, woods or
plants. If you are working in a group, you might be the Tool Treasurer -
you'll need to know which resources are needed for the main tools for each
member.

If you are working in a group, it will be essential to share information
with each other. Some of you are more reliant on what the other produces,
so be sure to communicate!

Each of you will keep a journal, logging in at least 7 entries that will
cover a 7 day time frame. Each entry will be that days reflection as if you
were back in time. Write down what you did and how you felt physically,
emotionally and/or mentally. Note specific obstacles and achievements. What
are your predators? Did you need to evade any of them? If so, what
happened? More importantly though, describe what your life is like around
people who don't speak and are so primitive. How do they behave? Can you
describe their actions? How are they reacting to what you are teaching and
showing them?

This is your moment to not only get creative, but do so in a fashion that
is still representative of that era. Keep it real! We want to know what
it's like to live back then, and how your area of knowledge will help them
have better lives.

After you are done researching your task, writing about it in your journal
and sharing it with your group, especially the Cave Artist, your group will
put together a simple Power Point highlighting your week-long vacation as a
hominid. You don't need to share EVERY detail, just the main ones that
pertain to your task, it's creation, and it's sharing.
