Serf

Role 1

You are a serf, better called a slave. Your master is the lord of the manor,
which you live on. He is also supposed to be your protector as well as your
governor and judge. You work his field and give him taxes of money and crops.
You are bound to him and cannot even marry without permission. You get up at
dawn and work until bedtime at dusk.


Instructions

1.	Research all the web sites.
2.	Explore all of the information available.
3.	Use the questions below to help you focus your research.
4.	Take notes on cards or use Word.
5.	Cut and paste information with care.  Use only the most vital facts.
6.	Once you have gathered your information look for clipart. This will be  
         needed for your multimedia presentation.
7.	Complete your multimedia presentation.
8.	Check multimedia presentation rubric. 
9.	Complete the role project.
10.    Check role project rubric.

2.	Why were windows made very small with wooden shutters?
3.	Compare the homes of the wealthy to those of the poor?
4.	How did peasants/serfs dress?
5.	How did peasant male clothing differ form peasant female clothing?
6.	How does clothing reflect the social status of the wearer?
7.	What duties did a peasant have to the lord of the manor?
8.	How did peasant farm?
9.	What kinds of food did the serfs and peasants eat?
10.    Name and describe a common disease of this time period and its 
         symptoms.
